BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University volleyball team dropped its first match of Homecoming Weekend 2022 tonight as the Huskies fell to visiting Millersville University, 3-1 (25-14, 16-25, 25-21 & 251-6) in Nelson Field House.
With the win, Millersville improved to 14-10 overall, and the Marauders are now 4-5 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action. Bloomsburg is now 5-17 overall, and the Huskies are 3-6 in PSAC East play.
Leading the way for Bloomsburg was
Liz Bopp (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria). She hit .500 with a team-high 11 kills.
Shayna Warfel (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) also had an 11-kill night for Bloomsburg, and
Sydney Buell (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) added eight kills. Adydan Espinal directed the offense with 37 assists.
Hannah Robson (Charlotte, N.C./Arborbrook) led the Huskies with 20 digs.
Kylie Airesman led Millersville with 15 kills.
Down 1-0 in the match, Bloomsburg battled back to the tie match with a 25-16 win in the second set. The Huskies hit a .333 on the way to their second-set victory.
Millersville grabbed the advantage in the match with a narrow 25-21 win in the third set.
Bloomsburg will return to action and cap Homecoming Weekend 2022 tomorrow (Saturday, October 22) as the Huskies host West Chester at 6 p.m. in PSAC East action.
