ÂÂSHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg field hockey team fell to #1 Shippensburg University 4-1 Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). The Huskies dropped to 8-7 on the year and 3-4 in the PSAC, while the Raiders improved to 12-1 and 5-1 in PSAC action.
 
Senior 
Abby Shaffer (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) had a great day in the cage for the Huskies, making a career-best 17 saves, and sophomore 
Lillie Weaver (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) added a defensive save. The Raiders out-shot the Huskies 30-6 for the game and held a 22-4 advantage in shots on goal. Shippensburg had a 16-6 advantage in penalty corners for the game.
 
Shippensburg got on the board first as Agus Garibaldi scored 6:43 into the first quarter. The goal came after Shaffer's three saves on the Raiders' first three shots.
 
With 3:26 to go in the quarter, freshman Elana Snodgrass collected her first career goal as she got a pass from senior 
Bri Doebler (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) off the penalty corner by sophomore 
Kara Koch (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) and found the back of the cage to tie the game 1-1.
 
The Raiders took the lead back as time expired in the first with another penalty corner and shot by Lilly Cantabene.
 
Both teams were held scoreless in the second quarter before Shippensburg scored once in the third and fourth periods, and a shot by sophomore 
Meg Barnard (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) with less than seven to play in regulation was blocked as the Raiders went on to win 4-1.
 
Snodgrass led the Huskies with two shots, while Koch, Barnard, 
Emily Swineford (Mt. Pleasant Mills, Pa./Selinsgrove Area), and 
Carlee Williams (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) each had a shot.
 
The Huskies return to action on Wednesday, November 2, when they host #3, West Chester, at 4:00 p.m.
