KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Despite a tough loss to Kutztown, the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament after a stellar regular season. On Wednesday evening, the Huskies dropped their regular-season finale to the Golden Bears, 64-43, at the Keystone Arena.
The Huskies end the regular season with an 18-10 overall record and a 16-6 slate in PSAC play. The 16 wins against conference teams are the highest win total for the Huskies under head coach Tagliaferri. The 18 wins are the second-most regular-season wins for BU with Coach Tagliaferri.

Emma Saxton (York, Pa./Central York) led Bloomsburg with 10 points as she pushed her season total to 380 points and her career total to 1,326. Saxton moved into ninth all-time in scoring at Bloomsburg and needs just one point to tie eighth and two to take over the eighth spot currently occupied by Kayla Oxenrider (2009-13) with 1,327. Saxton also led the team with four assists and four steals.

Katelin Starr (Berwick, PA/Berwick) finished with a team-best seven rebounds, while graduate student
Meghan Corridoni (Exeter, Pa./Holy Redeemer) posted seven points and five boards for the Huskies.

As a team, the Huskies were held to a 32.1% shooting day from the floor (17-for-53) and were just 4-for-15 from three-point range. Bloomsburg shot 83.3% from the foul line (5-for-6). Offensively, the Huskies had their best shooting quarter in the third as they went 8-for-13 (61.54%) from the floor and were 2-for-4 from three-point range. During that period, the Huskies out-scored the Golden Bears 18-12.

Kutztown held the lead from the opening tip as they took a quick 5-0 lead just two minutes into the quarter and never looked back as they led for the rest of the contest. The Golden Bears out-scored Bloomsburg 13-6 in the first and led 31-13 at halftime. Despite an 18-12 third quarter for the Huskies, Kutztown closed out the game with a 21-12 fourth quarter to seal the win, 64-43.

The Golden Bears shot 47.4% (27-for-57) for the game and were held to just a 4-for-18 (22.2%) day from three-point range. Kutztown finished the game 6-for-8 from the foul line.
Leading the way for the Golden Bears was Abbey Hearn with 20 points, while Rylee Derr finished the day with 11 points and five rebounds. Naia Pulliam posted 12 points in 16 minutes for the Golden Bears, while Zara Zerman collected six boards. Casey Remolde was held to just six points though she pulled down seven rebounds and led the team with three of KU's six blocks.

With a bye this weekend, the Huskies will be scoreboard watching to see who they will face in the PSAC quarterfinals. With the second seed secured, Bloomsburg will have a bye in the first round of the tournament and will face the winner of the No. 4/5 game next Monday, February 28. The rest of the seeding for the tournament will shake out during the regular season finales for the rest of the conference on Saturday. Kutztown picked up the No. 1 seed in the East in the tournament and a first-round bye as well. The highest remaining seed in the East following the quarterfinal games will have the privilege of hosting the semifinals and PSAC championship game during the weekend of March 6 and 7.
