ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Bloomsburg University softball team dropped both games of its double header to Eckerd College, Sunday afternoon. The Tritons took the first game 6-0 before completing the sweep with a 2-1 win in the nightcap.

The Tritons got out a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second of the first game, which proved to be all of the run support they needed. Eckerd added another run in the bottom of the fourth to take a 4-0 lead.

The Huskies threatened in the top of the fifth as they put two runners on but couldn't cross the plate.
Alexis Wetzler (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area High School) led off the frame with a single to left center. Samma Starr singled through the left side to put two on but Hannah Perkins got out of the jam and kept the Huskies off of the board.

Eckerd scored twice more in the sixth to seal the 6-0 win.

The Huskies had six hits for the day and
Kayleigh Lenner (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) led the way with two of them.

Eckerd struck first in the night cap with a run in the bottom of the fourth. The Huskies answered in the top of the fifth as they got back-to-back two-out singles from Lenner and Starr to put two runners on.
Nicolette Ray (Abington, Pa./Abington) followed with a single of her own to left to bring home Lenner.
Alex Iseminger (Everett, Pa./Everett Area) singled to load the bases but Kensley Durrance worked out of trouble and kept the game tied.

The Tritons broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth to take a 2-1 lead and hung out for the win. Bloomsburg threatened in the top of the seventh with two runners on and
Erin DelPierre (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) up to bat. DelPierre singled to center and Lenner tried to score come home from third but the throw just beat her to preserve the lead and win for Eckerd.

Lenner, Ray, and DelPierre all finished with a pair of hits for Bloomsburg.

The Huskies get right back to work on Monday when they travel to Rollins for a 12:00 pm doubleheader in Winter Haven, Fla.
