Pair of Huskies Have Strong Performance at the 2022 Mondschein Multi

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Lauren O'Malley (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) and Doug Walsh (Old Forge, Pa./Holy Cross High School) represented the Bloomsburg University men's and women's track & field teams at the 2022 Mondschein Multi, hosted by Kutztown. O'Malley finished fifth in the Women's Heptathlon Maroon, while Walsh took second in the Men's Decathlon. 

O'Malley set her career-best point total in the heptathlon with 3,383 points following the two-day event. O'Malley sat in seventh with 1,893 points following the first four events of the first day. She ran an 18.77 in the 100-meter hurdles and an outdoor career-best 28.95 in the 200-meter dash. O'Malley cleared 1.36 meters in the high jump before throwing a lifetime-best 8.76 meters in the shot put. 

O'Malley opened the second day of events with a long jump of 4.85 meters before hitting 30.25 meters in the javelin, also a career-best distance. She closed out the heptathlon with a 2:47.66 in the 800-meter race. She moved up two spots in the standings after her second solid day to take fifth overall. 

Walsh impressed in his first-ever decathlon as he took second overall with 5,225 points. He was in second after day one with 3,065 points after the first five events and held on the second spot following the final five events. 

Walsh posted an 11.65 in his 100-meter dash collegiate debut before hitting 6.46 meters in the long jump. Walsh posted an 8.80 meters throw in the shot put and cleared 1.74 meters in the high jump. The freshman closed out the day with a career-best run of 53.39 in the 400-meter dash. 

Walsh ran a career-best 18.67 in the 110-meter hurdles to open the second day of competition and tossed 20.20 meters in the discus. He cleared 2.85 meters in the pole vault before tossing a personal-best 48.28-meter throw in the javelin. Walsh finished the 10-part event with a 5:03.73 mark in the 1,500-meter run. 

The Huskies get back to action on Friday as the entire two teams compete at the Bison Outdoor Classic on April 15 and 16, hosted by Bucknell University.
