BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg University women's tennis team went 2-1 this past week, including a pair of crucial Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) wins as the Huskies head into the final week of conference play. The Huskies defeated Kutztown 6-1 and Shepherd 7-0 while they fell to non-conference opponent, Morgan State, 7-0.

The Huskies picked up their first conference win of the week as they defeated Kutztown 6-1. BU got off to a hot start with a sweep of doubles matches.
Rea Hagishima (Tokyo, Japan/Meguro Nihon University High School) and
Lexi Quackenbush (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) kicked things off with a 6-1 win at No. 1 and
Luana Bernardi (Aruja, Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Reino) and
Sarah Capoferri (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) followed with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles.
Isabella Sarquis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Metodo) and
Alyssa Mazurek (McAdoo, PA/Hazleton Area) closed out doubles with a 6-4 win at No. 3.

Quackenbush pushed the Huskies lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles before Kutztown got on the board with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2. Hagishima gave Bloomsburg a 3-1 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1.

Capoferri clinched the match for Bloomsburg with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 and Sarquis followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6. Bernardi closed out the day with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 6.

Bloomsburg picked up its second win of the week as the Huskies cruised to a 7-0 lead over Shepherd on Saturday. Hagishima and Quackenbush combined for a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles and Sarquis and Mazurek clinched the first point of the match with a 6-0 win at No. 3. Bernardi and Capoferri picked up a hard-fought 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles to complete the sweep.

Alese Rinker (/) gave the Huskies a 3-0 lead in the match with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles. Hagishima once again clinched the match for the Huskies as she won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.
