MANSFIELD, Pa. – After having four runners finish in the top six, the Bloomsburg University women's cross country team won their 2022 season opening event at the Mansfield Short Course Open.
Bloomsburg was led by
Kelley Selheimer (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn), who finished second overall with her time of 17:09.9 (6:08.3 average mile) as she was the top finisher for the Huskies.
Nicole Keeley (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) was just seconds behind Selheimer as she finished fourth overall with a time of 17:17.5 (6:11.0 avg. mile). Teammate
Amanda Kelly (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) finished behind Keeley and boosted Bloomsburg's team score as she finished fifth overall with a mark of 17:20.8 (6:12.2 avg. mile).
In sixth place was
Kyla Leathers (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) with a time of 17:54.0 (6:24.1 avg. mile).
Emma Fortune (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./James M. Coughlin) was the final Husky to finish in the top 10, finishing the race 10
th overall with her time of 18:32.0 (6:37.7 avg. mile).
Behind Fortune was a pack of Husky runners as
Brianna Dumond (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua Area),
Gabrielle Wetzel (Manchester Township, NJ/Manchester Township) and
Alyssa Keeley (Northumberland, Pa./Shikellamy) finished 11
th, 12
th and 13
th overall.
The Huskies will pick back up with their next event being the DII/DIII Challenge at Kutztown University on September 16
th.
