Volleyball Falls In Two Matches at Hall of Fame City Challenge

CANTON, Ohio – The Bloomsburg University volleyball team lost a pair of 3-0 matches on the first day of the Hall of Fame City Challenge, Friday. The Huskies opened the day with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-21) loss to Davenport before falling to Edinboro, 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-12).
 
Junior Liz Bopp (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) led the way offensively for the Huskies as she finished with 10 kills, just three errors, on 26 attacks for a 0.269 hitting day. She was a perfect 5-for-8 against Davenport and finished the day with six digs and one block.
 
Junior Aydan Espinal (Rock Hill, S.C./Rock Hill) dished out 33 assists between the two matches.
 
As a team, the Huskies hit 57-for-184 with 36 errors between the two sets.
 
In the day's opening match against Davenport, Jenna Dubosky (Summit Hill, Pa./Panther Valley) led the Huskies with seven kills while Emily Jackson (Dover, N.J./Morris Hills) had a pair of blocks. Espinal dished out 17 assists and had 12 digs.
 
Against Edinboro, Marlee Johnson (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) led Bloomsburg with six kills while Bopp had five and Shayna Warfel (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) had three. Dubosky finished the day with a pair of aces while Maura Uschock (Irwin, Pa./Hempfield) had nine digs, an ace, and an assist. Espinal closed out the day with 16 assists and eight digs.
 
The Huskies get back to action today, September 3, as they face off against Notre Dame College (Ohio) at 11:15 am and Malone University at 3:45 pm to close out the Hall of Fame City Challenge.
