#25 Women's Soccer Shuts Out Shepherd, 3-0, On the Road

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. – The #25 Bloomsburg University, women's soccer team got back in the win column on Wednesday as the Huskies defeated Shepherd University 3-0 on the road. Bloomsburg improved to 4-1 on the year and 2-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East action, while the Rams dropped to 2-2-1 and 1-2 in conference play.

After waiting out an hour and a half rain delay, the Huskies and Rams got underway. Bloomsburg did not waste time as junior Amanda Stoll (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) scored for the second-straight game. After a foul was called on Shepherd, Stoll put the ball in the back of the net just 1:53 into action.

The Rams took their first shot of the game at the 6:21 mark, and senior keeper Riley Spingler (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) saved the header by Sara Hohn.

The Huskies' offense kept putting pressure on the Rams, and after two shots went wide, graduate student Nicole Varano (Mt. Carmel, Pa./Mt. Carmel) got a pass from junior Campbell Power (Souderton, Pa./Souderton Area) and scored to push the Bloomsburg lead to 2-0 in the 22nd minute.

Spingler made two more saves in the final 15 minutes of the first half, and the Huskies carried a 2-0 lead into the break.

Bloomsburg extended its advantage just 11 minutes into the second half as senior Paige Harris (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) connected with junior Lauren Bull (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) for her first of the season and a 3-0 lead in the 57th minute.

With just over 13 minutes to play, junior Alexa Ryan (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) stepped in goal for the Huskies and saved the only shot she faced to preserve Bloomsburg's third shutout of the season.

Stoll led the Huskies with four shots, two on goal, Varano finished with three, and Harris, Aubrey Hondros (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South), Brooke Foster (Cherry Hill, N.J./Camden Catholic), and Ellie Rowe (Hetlerville, Pa./Central Columbia) had two.

Spingler got the win in net for the Huskies with three saves in 76:23, while Ryan made one save in 13:37.

The Huskies' brief road trip continues Saturday as they head to Millersville University for a 1:00 p.m. PSAC East showdown and a rematch of the 2021 PSAC Championship game.
