BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg field hockey team shutout the No. 1 ranked team in the nation, East Stroudsburg, 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at Steph Pettit Stadium.
Â
Bloomsburg (10-2, 3-3 PSAC) put pressure on East Stroudsburg (10-2, 4-1) early, with freshman
Genna Bush (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) and junior
Aydan McFarland (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) each forcing ESU goalkeeper Amy Supey to make a save in the early going of the first period.
Â
On the Huskies' first corner of the game, junior
Bella Culp (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) fired a shot from top of the shooting circle where it connected with the stick of senior
Emily Swineford (Mt. Pleasant Mills, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) to give the maroon and gold a 1-0 lead.
Â
Bloomsburg held East Stroudsburg without a shot in the first quarter, just the second time this season a team has allowed zero shots in a quarter against the Warriors.

Â
This is the Huskies first win against East Stroudsburg since September 6, 2016.
