#8 Field Hockey Caps Off Senior Day with 3-0 Victory Over Mercyhurst

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg field hockey team picked up its sixth shutout of the season with a 3-0 victory against Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon at Steph Pettit Stadium.

Senior Day saw freshman Genna Bush (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) net the first goal of the game for Bloomsburg (11-3), deflecting in a shot off a penalty corner from junior Bella Culp (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) just under three minutes into the contest.

Junior Aydan McFarland (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) extend the Huskies' lead in the second quarter, potting her ninth goal of the season past the Mercyhurst (2-11) goaltender.

On a corner early in the third quarter, Culp once again fired in a shot from the top of the shooting circle, this time deflecting off the stick of senior Emily Swineford (Mt. Pleasant Mills, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) and into the back of the cage.

Culp recorded her tenth assist of the season on Bloomsburg's third goal, becoming the first Husky to record at least ten assists in a season since Amanda Riley in 2011.

Junior Jackie Nevel (Nescopeck, Pa./Berwick Area) posted her fifth solo shutout of the season.

The Huskies' victory over the Lakers brings field hockey's win total to 11, marking the sixth 11-win season under Head Coach Nikki Hartranft.

Bloomsburg returns to action on Wednesday, October 18 for a 4 p.m. contest against Millersville at Steph Pettit Stadium.
