Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets to East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg volleyball team fell on the road Saturday 3-0 in a PSAC contest against East Stroudsburg.

Emily Jackson (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) paced the Huskies (7-12, 3-4 PSAC East) offensively with eight kills while hitting .353 and adding three total blocks, including two solo efforts. Elise Adelman (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) added four kills and a team-high 16 digs en route to the setter's 13 double-double of the season.

Neither side maintained much offensive consistency in the match, with both sides hitting below their season averages.

How It Happened:
Bloomsburg again faced an early slow start to a match, entering a 7-2 hole against the Warriors (14-5, 7-0 PSAC East) in set one. A 6-1 run from the Huskies forced a tie at 8-8.

Facing a 19-13 hole in the first frame, Bloomsburg forced a 7-0 run to grab its first lead in the set at 20-19. Jackson and Jenna Dubosky (Summit Hill, Pa./Panther Valley) each recorded a kill in the swing as Allison Saalfrank (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) increased her team-leading service ace count to 36 with three in the opening set.

The Huskies could not hold on to the new-found lead for long as East Stroudsburg found a path to a 1-0 lead in the match.

Bloomsburg looked to have control in the second set with a five-point lead following a series of costly mistakes from the Warriors. A four-point run from East Stroudsburg cut the Huskies' advantage to one before Bloomsburg found itself with a three-point edge at 20-17.

A 4-0 run from the Warriors allowed the home side to regain the advantage and carry the momentum for a critical 2-0 set lead.

The Huskies could not keep pace with East Stroudsburg in what was the final set as the home team closed out the evening with a match-best .262 in the set. Bloomsburg received contributions from multiple players in its final push, with five players ending the third frame with multiple kills.

Jackson and Emily Gustie (Crofton, Md./Crofton) led the way for the Huskies in the final set with three kills each.

On The Horizon:
The Huskies will travel to Lock Haven on Friday, October 20, at 6:00 p.m. for a PSAC matchup with the Bald Eagles.
