LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – On Friday evening, the Bloomsburg volleyball team dropped a back-and-forth battle to Lock Haven, 3-2. The Huskies fell to 7-13 on the year and 3-5 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East, while the Bald Eagles improved to 9-7 and 4-4 in conference action.

Senior outside
Shayna Warfel (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) led the attack for the Huskies as she hit .333 on the day with a season-high 14 kills. She added a pair of block assists and had three digs for the day.
Marlee Johnson (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) hit .323 with 13 kills, four digs, and a block assist.
Jenna Dubosky (Summit Hill, Pa./Panther Valley) finished the day with 12 kills, eight digs, and three block assists.

Liz Bopp (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) and
Emily Jackson (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) had strong days at the net as Bopp led the team with five block assists and four kills. Jackson finished the day with eight kills, four block assists, and a solo block. As a team, the Huskies finished the day with 10.0 total blocks, including 18 block assists and a solo stop.

Tayla Miller (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) finished the day with 22 digs and had five assists.
Elise Adelman (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) led the Huskies with six service aces as the team collected 14. She added 43 assists and 14 digs on the day.

The Bald Eagles led 13-12 midway through the first set before a kill from Warfel got the service back to the Huskies, and Adelman went to work. The freshman setter served 12 straight points to give the Huskies a 24-13 lead and their first set point. Adelman had four aces in the run, and Warfel and Dubosky each had a pair of kills.

Lock Haven had two straight points to keep the set alive before Johnson ended the game with a kill from Adelman to give the Huskies a 1-0 match lead behind the 25-15 set win.

Bloomsburg erased an 8-4 lead for the Bald Eagles with seven straight points to take an 11-8 lead.
Maura Uschock (Irwin, Pa./Hempfield) had a pair of service aces with a kill from both Johnson and Warfel in the run. Lock Haven eventually tied the game at 14-14 before taking a 17-15 lead. The Huskies tied it before taking a 22-20 lead. The two teams traded the following four points, and the Huskies had their first set point at 24-22, but the Bald Eagles answered with a pair of kills to tie the set at 24-24. Lock Haven had its first set point at 26-25, but a service error gave the Huskies back the serve with the set tied 26-26. A block for Lock Haven and a kill by Warfel kept the set tied, 27-27, before Lock Haven closed out the set with a pair of kills to even the match at 1-1.

Lock Haven raced out to a 5-0 lead in the third set, but Bloomsburg answered with five straight of its own. After that point, neither team led by more than two points until Lock Haven went on a five-point run with the set tied 17-17 to lead 22-17. A kill by Johnson halted the Lock Haven run, but two straight points for the Bald Eagles gave them their set point at 24-18. The Huskies rattled off five consecutive points to keep the set alive, but Lock Haven eventually closed it out with a kill by Kelly Gaston to take a 2-1 match lead.

The fourth set stayed close for both teams until Bloomsburg took an 18-14 lead thanks to a kill from Warfel. The Bald Eagles clawed their way back and grabbed a 20-19 lead, looking to close the match with a fourth-set victory. Dubosky got a necessary kill to halt the LHU run and kicked off a five-point run for Bloomsburg. Dubosky's second kill of the run gave Bloomsburg a 24-20 lead. Lock Haven got two points back, but Johnson closed the set and evened the match at 2-2 with a kill.

Bloomsburg jumped out to a 2-1 lead, but Lock Haven grabbed control of the fifth set with a five-point run to take a 6-2 lead. The Huskies and Bald Eagles traded the following seven points before Lock Haven put together a three-point run to lead 12-6. The Huskies cut the lead to three, 12-9, thanks to a pair of kills and a service ace for
Julia Holmes (Elkton, Md./Bohemia Manor), but Alyssa Daley had three straight kills to seal the win for Bloomsburg.

The Huskies have the rest of the weekend off before departing from conference play on Tuesday, October 24. Bloomsburg travels to Chestnut Hill College for a 6:00 p.m. match in Philadelphia.
