Jenna Dubosky (Summit Hill, Pa./Panther Valley) shined offensively for the Huskies (4-11, 1-3 PSAC East), matching a career-high with 14 kills while hitting a career-best .444 and adding eight digs. Defensively,
Tayla Miller (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) capped off the evening with 22 digs (7.33 per set), the most in a three-set match by the sophomore.
Elise Adelman (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) continued her standout freshman campaign, ending the night with 30 assists (10.00 per set), nine digs and three service aces.
The win marked the Huskies' third sweep of an opponent this season.
How It Happened:
The first set between the two sides was back and forth, with West Chester (7-6, 2-2 PSAC East) getting the better end of the early exchanges.
Trailing 15-11, an array of kills from four different Huskies helped the team cut the first-set deficit to 18-17 before the Golden Rams called a timeout. After the break, a pair of kills from
Emma Antigua (Kimball, Minn./Kimball) and two aces from Adelman gave Bloomsburg its first lead of the set since going up 4-3, forcing another timeout from the visitors.
After trading sideouts, West Chester pulled within one point of set point at 24-22. A kill from Dubosky gave the ball back to the Huskies, where a critical block from
Emily Jackson (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) and a set-sealing service ace from
Maura Uschock (Irwin, Pa./Hempfield) clinched the opening frame.
Antigua was a force in the first set, ending the first set with seven kills.
The contest continued to be close throughout the second set, with Bloomsburg grabbing an 11-8 lead behind a 4-0 run with two aces from Antigua. The Golden Rams continued to answer the Huskies' challenges, with both teams forcing ties deep into the second frame.
At 25-25 in the second set, a key pass from Dubosky to Antigua gave Bloomsburg a 26-25 advantage before critical defensive pressure forced the Golden Rams into a costly mistake, leading to the Huskies capturing set two, 27-25.
Bloomsburg put its foot on the gas in the third set, decisively taking the last frame 25-14. Tied at 6-6, Bloomsburg went on a 4-0 run to claim a 10-6 advantage. The Huskies later used a 5-0 run for a nine-point lead over West Chester, 18-9. In the final stretch of the match,
Liz Bopp (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) provided a steady presence with two blocks and a kill, setting up a match point. Dubosky capped off a career night with her final kill of the night.
Antigua recorded 17 or more points in a three-set match for the second time this season, becoming the only player in team history to do so.
