ATHENS, W. Va. – Kody Besser (Lacey Township, N.J./Lacey Township) earned a spot on the second team of the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Atlantic Region teams, as announced on Tuesday.

Besser was crucial to the Huskies backline as Bloomsburg made its third-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament this season. The sophomore defender was critical in the Huskies winning its first-ever NCAA Tournament game, scoring the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Southern New Hampshire.

The Lacey Township, N.J. native finished the 2023 season tied for the team lead in points (11) and goals (5) en route to being named a first team All-PSAC East selection and receiving two PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week honors. Besser anchored the defense to six shutouts and goals against averages of 1.04 and .92 during the year and in conference play, respectively.

Besser is the first Bloomsburg men's soccer player since Matt Zima in 2015 to be named to a D2CCA team and receive first-team all-conference accolades. In addition to the individual accomplishments, the sophomore helped Bloomsburg to consecutive double-digit win seasons and PSAC Tournament berths for the first time since the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
