CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The Bloomsburg men's basketball team dropped its final non-conference matchup of the season, 107-66, on the road against Charleston on Thursday afternoon.
Bloomsburg (2-6) struggled to find its footing early, trailing by ten at the first media timeout. Following the break,
Raphael Castillo (Newark, N.J./Morristown Beard) made an immediate impact off the bench, with an early pair of jumpers. The Newark native finished with 15 points in the first half.
Castillo's 15-point frame was not enough to keep up with a redhot Charleston (7-2) team. The Golden Eagles shot 19-for-29 (65.52%) from the field in the first half.
The Huskies turned things around offensively in the second half, shooting just below 52 percent (15-for-29). The second half was highlighted by a stretch of eight-straight made field goals as a part of a seven minute, 21-13 run beginning at the 10:30-mark.
Overall, Charleston outpaced the maroon and gold, making 40-of 67 attempts from the floor. The Huskies finished the game shooting 45.9 percent (28-of-61).
Castillo posted a total of 20 points off the bench while tallying a pair of steals and an assist.
Jake Nelson (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Rustin) recorded his sixth ten-point night of the season, finishing with 15 points.
The Huskies resume Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on Monday, December 18 with their first game of a western Pennsylvania road trip against Pitt-Johnstown at 7:30 p.m.
