KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Bloomsburg softball team traveled to Kutztown for another PSAC East matchup on Friday afternoon. The Huskies dropped both contests to the division's third-ranked Bears and moved to 11-13 in conference play on the season.
The Bears defense held strong in the opening bout, shutting out the Huskies by score of 8-0. The Huskies found themselves down three runs early on a homer from Kutztown and Haley Gravish had a strong performance on the mound to keep the Huskies off the board.
It was a quiet day on offense as
Kayleigh Lenner (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) finished 2-for-2 in her at-bats and
Emma Little (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn-Trafford) finished 2-for-3 with a double. The Huskies battled through every inning, but it just wasn't their day.
Unfortunately for the Huskies, the second matchup of the day had a similar turnout as Bloomsburg dropped the closing contest 8-1.
Kelly Eberly (Purcellville, Va/Homeschooled) finished the game with three strikeouts and allowing four hits on 22 at-bats.
Lyndsey Reinoehl (Shenandoah Heights, Pa./Marian Catholic) got the start on the mound and was charged with the loss.
The Bears got on the board early and often, finishing the first inning with six runs as there was no slowing the Kutztown offense Friday.
The Huskies lone run of the day came on a series of singles, and
Emma Little (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn-Trafford) earned the RBI on a walk.
The Bloomsburg softball team gets right back to it Saturday morning as they travel to top-ranked West Chester for another conference doubleheader matchup. The opening game, originally scheduled for 1:00 PM, was moved up to 11:00 AM due to predicted inclement weather.
