PUEBLO, Colo. - Freshman
Kelly Leszcynski (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) made history as she became the first All-American for the Bloomsburg women's track & field team since 2017 as she took fourth overall in the javelin with a school-record throw of 47.65 meters at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Saturday.
Leszcynski is the first NCAA qualifier for the Huskies since Kaylee Caruso and Kristen O'Malley competed in 2017. She is the first thrower for the Huskies to reach the national stage in program history.
She started the competition strong as she broke her school record with her first throw of the day of 45.36 meters. Leszcynski rebroke her record with her second throw of 46.53 meters. After qualifying for the final round and in sixth overall, she had two more successful throws before her final toss of the day, the school-record throw of 47.65 meters, to jump into fourth place and first team All-America status.
Leszcynski is the 10th All-American for the Huskies between the indoor and outdoor programs.
