BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg field hockey team lost its first game of the season in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup against No. 5 Shippensburg, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon.

Shippensburg (6-2, 1-0 PSAC East) opened the scoring halfway through the first quarter with a goal from Ashley Button. SU extended the lead just over a minute later with a goal from Yasmin De Meyer.

Bloomsburg (7-1, 1-1) responded in the second quarter as junior midfielder
Bella Culp (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) brought the ball into the shooting circle before finding sophomore
Jasmine Fink (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area) in front of the net for the Huskies first goal of the game.

The Raiders' Tess Jedeloo found the back of the net, with help from Agus Garibaldi, in the second quarter to give Shippensburg a 3-1 lead going into the half.

In the fourth, Garibaldi found De Meyer for her second of the game to put SU up by three.

Aydan McFarland (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) lead the team in shots with three. Junior goalkeeper
Jackie Nevel (Nescopeck, Pa./Berwick Area) finished the contest with seven saves.

Shippensburg outshot the Huskies 12-11 while posting an 11-7 advantage in shots on goal.

Bloomsburg returns to action on September 26 for a matchup against West Chester.
