BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg volleyball team outlasted Assumption Sunday evening with a 3-2 victory inside Nelson Field House.

How It Happened:
The Huskies took a commanding lead in the match, going up 2-0.
In the first set, four Huskies had multiple kills, led by Antigua with four along, with Bopp and
Jenna Dubosky (Summit Hill, Pa./Panther Valley) finishing with three. Trailing 7-4 early on, Bloomsburg used a 4-0 run to take an 8-7 lead in the first frame, later bolstered by an 8-1 outburst to create a 16-9 advantage.
After trading several sideouts, the Greyhounds cut the margin to one at 19-18. The Huskies halted further advancements, wrapping up the first set at 25-19.
Bloomsburg once again found itself trailing in the second set but showed the determination to maintain composure. Down 11-7, the Huskies rattled off a 5-0 run to grab a 12-11 lead in the second set.
Marlee Johnson (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) kicked off the run with one of her nine kills on the evening, which led to a solid service run from
Allison Saalfrank (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge).
The duo of Adelman and Antigua then further asserted themselves into the fray, helping Bloomsburg to a set-defining 5-0 run that proved enough to hold on. Antigua wrapped up the second frame with a pair of decisive kills.
Assumption did not back down from the deficit, displaying its grit to remain in the contest. The Greyhounds locked in defensively to force the fourth set, and despite the Huskies outhitting the visitors .229 to .186 in the fourth set, the crowd at Nelson Field House witnessed a deciding fifth set.
In the end, the senior members of the Bloomsburg squad stepped up in the critical moments. The tenured middle blockers Bopp and
Emily Jackson (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) provided the necessary edge for the Huskies to prevail. Bopp hammered home the match-tying and game-leading kill to make it 15-14 while Jackson continued to wreak havoc on the Assumption attackers. Dubosky finished the night with an attack from the wing that sealed the victory for the Huskies.
Tayla Miller (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) anchored the defensive efforts for Bloomsburg, concluding Sunday's match with a season-high 26 kills. Jackson led the Huskies with her third match with at least five blocks.
