Box Score CALDWELL, N.J. – The Bloomsburg men's soccer team fell in a back-and-forth contest by a 3-2 result against Caldwell on Wednesday evening.Â
The contest saw 36 combined shots and displays of clinical finishing on both sides with goals from
Anthony Schlee (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) and
Teagan Wallace (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) for the Huskies. However, the Cougars had the decisive finish to claim victory.
How It Happened:Â
The Huskies took control of the game's early momentum with the first goal. Bloomsburg collected the ball in the opposing half, where it was laid off to
Sammy Ames (Holly Ridge, N.C./Dixon), who made a beautiful turn and run toward the box. Ames sent a cross to Schlee, and the forward leaped and headed home his second goal of the season.
Bloomsburg added its second goal of the game in the 29th minute. Graduate student
Stephen Hollis (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) stood over the corner as he sent the ball from the flag to the head of Wallace. The midfielder soared over the defender and nodded in a far-post effort to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead.
Caldwell found its offensive footing in the game and used finishes from Israel Dos Santos Neto and Andre Viera to tie the game at 2-2 at the half.
Action stalled for much of the second half, with both sides exchanging possession throughout. The Cougars found space late in the half and the second goal from Dos Santos Neto sealed the game for Caldwell.Â
The Huskies outshot the Cougars 20-16 and Bloomsburg had nine corners to Caldwell's three.Â
On The Horizon:
