Men's Basketball Downed on the Road by Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's basketball team dropped a road Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest to Lock Haven, 80-68, inside Thomas Fieldhouse on Monday night.
 
Both teams came out hot, as Bloomsburg (4-15, 2-11 PSAC) and Lock Haven (13-5, 11-2) went shot-for-shot in the early goings. By the first media timeout, the Bald Eagles held a 14-12 lead over the Huskies.
 
As the two programs continued to battle, a quick, offensive surge gave Lock Haven a 15-point lead with seven minute to play in the half. When the halftime horn sounded, the Bald Eagles led 41-28.
 
Lock Haven continued to extend its lead in the second half, picking up the game's largest lead of 22 points with just under 14 minutes to play.
 
A 21-7 run from the Huskies pulled the maroon and gold within eight points of tying the game with six minutes remaining, however the Bald Eagles were able to hang on for their ninth win in a row.
 
Jake Nelson (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Rustin) recorded a team-high 21 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 8-for-17 from the floor.
 
Matt Bengel (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) went 7-for-14 to finish with 19 points. Defensively, he amassed five steals and one block.
 
The Huskies shot 40.7 percent (24-for-59) from the floor in the contest, highlighted by a 14-for-30 performance in the second half.
 
Bloomsburg is back on the court on Wednesday, January 31 West Chester will make the trip up to Nelson Field House for a 7:30 p.m. matchup.
