Men's Basketball Falls in Competitive Battle with West Chester

Four Huskies finish contest with 13 points

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's basketball team dropped a competitive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest with West Chester, 81-68, inside Nelson Field House on Wednesday night.
 
Bloomsburg (4-16, 2-12 PSAC) battled back-and-forth with West Chester (13-7, 10-4) for the entirety of the first half as the Huskies kept the Golden Rams within two possessions.
 
In the final minute of the half, Louie Wild (Philadelphia, PA/Roman Catholic) cut the WCU lead to two points before Matt Bengel (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) nailed a three-pointer with seven seconds remaining in the half to take a 34-33 lead into the locker room.
 
The Huskies continued to apply the pressure to West Chester, as Travis Elmore (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) opened the second-half scoring with a layup underneath the basket.
 
The Golden Rams eventually found their way back to the lead with a Robert Smith triple at the 13:42-mark and would hold the lead until the final horn sounded.
 
Four Huskies finished the game with 13 points, including junior Jagger Dressler (Danville, Pa./Danville). Dressler shot 5-of-6 from the floor and a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc en route to a career-high performance.
 
Elmore posted 13 points on 6-of-14 shooting while hauling in four rebounds and recording three steals and a block.
 
Bengel went finished with 13 points and six rebounds while Wild posted 13 points and three assists.
 
Desmond Freeman (Greensboro, N.C./Southeast Guilford) drained a trio of three-pointers to finish with nine points.
 
Overall, the maroon and gold shot 42.4 percent (25-of-59) from the floor and drained 11-of-26 (42.3 percent) three-point attempts.
 
The Huskies are back in action on Saturday as they travel to Shippensburg for a 3 p.m. contest with the Raiders inside Heiges Field House.
