LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Bloomsburg football team dropped a back-and-forth affair as Lock Haven help on for the 35-32 win, Saturday evening. With the loss, the Huskies dropped to 3-4 on the year and 1-3 in PSAC East play while the Bald Eagles improved to 3-4 and 2-2 in conference action.

Lock Haven started the game with the ball but the Huskies forced a turnover on downs during the Bald Eagles' first possession. Getting the ball at midfield, the Huskies were poised to make a statement with their first drive but an interception on the Huskies' first play gave the ball back to Lock Haven.
The Bald Eagles went 63 yards and found the endzone on a one-yard run to go up 7-0 with 8:50 to play in the first quarter.
Bloomsburg answered with its own scoring drive as
Matt Buchman (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) capped the drive with his first career receiving touchdown, a 14-yard pass from
KJ Riley (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) to cut the lead to 7-6. Three-straight runs opened the drive as the Huskies got down to the LHU 37-yard line. Riley hit
Jerry Griffen-Batchler (Norristown, Pa./Germantown Academy) for 13 yards to get to the LHU-24. Buchman opened up the field with a 10-yard run to get to the 14 yard line. Riley then connected with Buchman who cut through the corner of the endzone for the score. The point after attempt was blocked, however, and the Huskies had to settle for a one-point game.

The Bald Eagles needed just to plays to take a 13-6 lead as Jackson Ostorowsky hit T'air Young for 64 yards and a touchdown. The Bald Eagles added the extra point to extend their lead to 14-6 with 3:35 to play in the first quarter. Lock Haven recovered a fumble on the Huskies' next drive for the scoop and score and 21-6 lead with 2:49 to play.

After a nearly scoreless second quarter, the Huskies finally got on the board with 1:56 to play thanks to a 12-play, 57-yard drive with Buchman muscling his way into the endzone for his second touchdown of the day. After forcing a 3-and-out with 9:06 to go in the second, the Huskies took over at their own 43-yard line. Riley ran up the middle for an eight-yard gain before Buchman carried it another seven yards to get to the Lock Haven 42-yard line. Riley carried it another nine yards before Buchman got the first down with a three-yard rush.
Jaden Helton (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) caught a three-yard pass and
Owen Anderson (Cogan Station, Pa./Jersey Shore Area) carried it three yards before Riley lost the handle on the ball as he was tackled but Buchman recovered it as he was going to forward to get to the LHU 22-yard line on fourth down. The Huskies went for it on 4
th-and-2 and Riley found an opening in the middle of the field and carried it for 12 yards to get to the LHU 10 yard line. Riley completed a pass to
Gabe Brower (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) to get to the one-yard line and Buchman finished the drive with his score. Riley connected on the point after attempt to cut the lead to 21-13 with 1:51 to play before halftime.

The Bald Eagles got one first down on their next drive but a
Nate Capers (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) tackle on 3
rd-and-17 well behind the sticks and in bounds kept the Bald Eagles from getting close to the endzone at the break.

The third quarter started just as the Huskies first drive of the game started, with a Bald Eagles interception. But once again, the Huskies forced a turnover on downs and got the ball back on their own 32-yard line and this time took advantage of the new possession.

Riley found
Peyton Persing (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) for five yards on 2
nd-and-5 to get to the BLOOM-40 before Riley found Brower in the middle of the field at the LHU-35 and Brower took it the rest of the way for a 60-yard touchdown catch. The two-point conversion attempt failed as the Huskies trailed 21-19 with 9:54 to play.
Ben Paserk's (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia) kickoff was muffed by Thomas Schultz and
Darnell Hightower (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) recovered the loose ball for the Huskies at the Lock Haven 35-yard line.

Bloomsburg took advantage of the short field and Riley found Persing for the 13-yard touchdown pass and the Huskies' first lead of the game, 25-21.

Lock Haven put together a 76-yard, 13-play drive on its next possession to retake the lead 28-25 and pushed the Bald Eagles extended their lead to 35-25 with 8:05 to play with a nine-play, 76-yard drive with their first possession of the fourth quarter after the Huskies missed a 42-yard field goal attempt.

The Huskies made it a one-score game as Riley found Anderson in the middle of the field without coverage on the LHU 40. After the catch, Anderson took it 40 yards for the score. Riley converted the extra point to cut the lead to 35-32 with 6:59 to play.

The Huskies and Bald Eagles traded punts before Lock Haven took over again at their own 31-yard line. The Bald Eagles got one first down but
Giovanni Cancro (Pequannock, N.J./Pequannock Township) and
Ryan D'Ambra (Southampton, Pa./Archbishop Wood) made a pair of tackles to keep Lock Haven behind the sticks. An eight-yard pass that would have given Lock Haven a first down was negated by a holding penalty to make it 3
rd-and-4 from the 50. Ostrowsky's pass fell short on the next play and the Bald Eagles were forced to punt.

The Huskies took over with 1:51 to play in the game and got down to their own 38-yard line. After a first-down catch by
Riley Parker (Canton, Pa./Canton) got the Huskies to midfield, Bloomsburg was forced to spike the ball to stop the clock. Brower caught another pass for five yards on third down but the Huskies couldn't covert on fourth and turned the ball over as the game ended and Lock Haven survived for the 35-32 win.

Riley set a career-high in passing yards as he finished the day 18-for-35 with four touchdown passes and two interceptions for 290 yards. He also ran for another 79 yards. Brower had four catches for 98 yards and Anderson had two catches for 69 yards. Griffen-Batchler caught four passes for 41 yards and Persing had three catches for 38 yards.
Buchman finished the day with 42 yards on 11 carries and had one catch for 14 yards.

Capers led the defense with seven tackles while D'Ambra had six tackles.
Brady Thompson (Green Lane, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) finished the day with five tackles, including a seven-yard sack.
Hakeem Bacon (Chester, Pa./STEM Academy),
Ky Seesholtz (Mifflinville, Pa./Central Columbia), and
Devin Fleming (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park) all had a pass breakup with Seesholtz and
Charles Crews III (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) had a quarterback hurry.
