MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Bloomsburg volleyball team completed the season sweep over Millersville with a 3-1 (25-18, 25-23, 21-25, 25-22) victory in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup inside Pucillo Gymnasium on Friday night.

Marlee Johnson (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) led the charge for Bloomsburg (8-14, 5-4 PSAC East) with a career-high 21 kills on 57 total attacks. It is the fifth most kills in the single match in program history and the second most in a four-set contest. Johnson eclipsed the 500-career kills mark early in the third set with her ninth kill of the match.
Emily Gustie (Crofton, Md./Crofton) posted a career-high 19 kills along with 17 digs, and three total blocks.

Elise Adelman (Pataskala, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) notched a season-high 54 assists in the contest and fell two assists short of setting a new career-high. Adelman also set the program record for aces in a season with 48. Â

Bloomsburg and Millersville (12-12, 4-5) traded points to a 6-5 Marauders lead before the Huskies regained the lead on a three-point swing that saw two kills from Gustie. Millersville responded with four-straight points to make it 10-8 before Bloomsburg exploded on an 8-1 run with kills from Johnson and Gustie to take a 16-11 lead. The Huskies held off Millersville to take the first set, 25-18.

After falling behind 3-1 early in the second set, Adelman spearheaded a seven-point run with three aces and a kill. The Marauders knotted the game at 9-9 with a 6-1 swing that saw Taylor Welter contribute four kills. A quick three-point burst gave the Huskies the lead once more and they never relinquished it as they went ahead two sets to none with a 25-23, second set victory.

Millersville battled in the third set to avoid the sweep, trading points with Bloomsburg before rallying for four-straight points to take a 13-8 lead. The Huskies fought hard to close the gap but ultimately dropped the set, 21-25.

The Marauders carried its momentum into the fourth set, taking an early 6-1 lead. The maroon and gold battled its way back to trail 8-7 before Millersville surged back ahead to a 15-10 lead. Bloomsburg once again surged within one point of the Marauders as Bloomsburg trailed 18-17. Millersville moved its lead to 21-18, the Huskies rallied a 7-1 run to close out the set, 25-22. Adelman ended the game with a solo block.

Bloomsburg is back in action on Saturday, November 2 for a 1 p.m. contest in West Chester.
