BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - For the second-straight season, senior
Kelley Selheimer is set to take on the 2024 NCAA DII Women's Cross Country National Championship meet, tomorrow, November 23 in Sacramento, Calif.
Selheimer's back-to-back selections to the NCAA Championships is the first time the Huskies have sent a runner to the championship meet in back-to-back seasons since Vicki Davis went in 2012 and 2013.
LEADER OF THE PACK
Throughout the season, Selheimer has led the Huskies and has finished at the top of the pack. The senior finished in the top-10 in five of her six races this season and won the DII/III Challenge for the second-straight season. She took second at the 14th Annual Galen Piper Cross Country Challenge to open the year and finished fourth at the LHU XC Invitational. Selheimer was fourth at the 2024 PSAC Championship meet for her third-straight all-conference nod and took seventh at the 2024 DII Atlantic Region Championship for her third-straight All-Region honor.
I'M HONORED
Selheimer earned first team All-PSAC honors with her fourth-place finish at the PSAC Championships with a time of 22:04.7. She followed up her All-PSAC performance with an All-Region run at the Atlantic Region Championships. Selheimer took seventh overall with a career-best time of 21:04.8. She earned PSAC Runner of the Week honors after her win at the DII/III C
ALWAYS IMPROVING
Selheimer tied her finish at the PSAC Championships as she took fourth in back-to-back years but dropped her time by almost 45 seconds. She took fourth in 2023 with a time of 22:49.3 and finished this year's race at 22:04.7. She dropped a place at the DII Regional Championship but dropped her time by 10 seconds (21:14.4 in 2023 and 21:04.8 in 2024).
PSAC COMPETITORS
Joining Selheimer as individual qualifiers at the national championship from the PSAC are Morgan Janiuk (Millersville), and Kate Szep (Edinboro) while Slippery Rock and East Stroudsburg qualified as teams.
The championships will be held Saturday, November 23 at Arcade Creek Cross Country Course in Sacramento, California. Sacramento Sports Commission and California Collegiate Athletic Association will serve as the host. The men's race will begin at 1:00 p.m. Eastern, followed by the women's race at 2:15 p.m. Eastern.
