LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Following a career-best performance on the defensive end in the Huskies' 57-48 win over Holy Family, Katie Starr (Berwick, Pa./Berwick) picks up her first weekly accolade of the season with PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week honors Monday afternoon. Last season, Starr received five weekly honors from the conference, including two East Player of the Week distinctions and three Defensive Athlete of the Week nods.

Starr's stalwart performance included a career-high five blocks and two steals against a Tigers squad with two wins over PSAC East teams this season. The standout performance marked just the third game in the senior's career with multiple blocks and steals in a contest. It is the first time since the 2019-2020 season a Bloomsburg women's basketball player recorded five blocks in a game.

Starr and the Huskies shut down one of the best three-point shooting teams in the country, with Holy Family averaging nine makes per contest while shooting 36.7 percent from behind the arc. The Tigers had their worst shooting performance of the season against Bloomsburg, only mustering three total three-point makes on 15 percent shooting and a cumulative 32.8 percentage from the floor en route to a season-low 48 points for Holy Family.

The Huskies' defensive improvement has made a noticeable difference on the court through the early stretch of the season. Bloomsburg has held three of its first seven opponents to under 50 points and two of those under 30 percent shooting from the field. The Huskies only held opponents to those benchmarks twice in the last two seasons.
