HERSHEY, Pa. - The Bloomsburg women's tennis team rolled to a 6-1 win over Daemen, Saturday afternoon. The Huskies claimed the doubles point to carry the team into the singles matches.
Alyssa Mazurek (McAdoo, PA/Hazleton Area) and
Alese Rinker (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) get the Huskies off on the right foot with a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles before
Lia-Sophie Seele (Mülheim, NRW, Germany/Luisenschule) and Dasha Nakoencha claimed the doubles point with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Daemen avoided the sweep with a 7-6 (3) win at No. 1 doubles.
Daemen tied the match at 1-1 with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles but
Lexi Quackenbush (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) extended the Huskies lead to 2-1 with a 6-2, 7-6 (3) win at No. 1 doubles.
Nicole Ilkovic (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy High School) pushed the Huskies lead to 3-1 with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles. Seele claimed the win at No. 4 singles to win the match for Bloomsburg. Seele won the first set 6-3 before closing out the match with a 7-5 win.
Mazurek picked up her second win of the day with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles and Rinker closed out the day with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
The Huskies return to action on Friday as they host Salem University in Hershey, Pa. for a 3:00 p.m. match.
