Men's Basketball Drops Final Home Game of the 2023-24 Season to Lock Haven

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's basketball team fell in its final home game of the 2023-24 season in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup with Lock Haven, 94-71, inside Nelson Field House on Wednesday night.
 
After Lock Haven (19-7, 17-4 PSAC) hit a three-pointer one minute in to open the scoring, Bloomsburg (5-22, 3-18) responded with a 10-2 run over the next five minutes. Six of the Huskies points on the run came from junior guard Matt Bengel (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep).
 
The maroon and gold held the lead for much of the opening frame until the Bald Eagles took the lead with under nine minutes of play in the half. The Huskies kept pace with Lock Haven for another few minutes until the visitors took the first double-digit lead of the contest at the 5:20 mark. At halftime, Lock Haven led 44-32 over Bloomsburg.
 
The Bald Eagles kept control for the entirety of the second half en route to a 94-71 victory over the Huskies.
 
Bengel led the team in scoring with 17 points on 6-of-17 shooting. The Erie native posted five rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
 
Louie Wild (Philadelphia, PA/Roman Catholic) went 6-for-13 with three triples to end with 15 points and seven rebounds. Travis Elmore (Tobyhanna, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) went 5-for-8 from the floor for 11 points.
 
Jagger Dressler (Danville, Pa./Danville) went 4-for-7 for nine points while also recording four rebounds, two assists and a steal.
 
Overall, Lock Haven posted an even 50 percent from the floor (40-for-80) while Bloomsburg finished 27-for 65 (41.5 percent).
 
The Huskies conclude the 2023-24 season with a 3 p.m. road contest with West Chester.
