WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's tennis team opened the 2024 calendar year with a 9-0 win over NCAA DIII opponent, Wilkes University, Saturday afternoon.

The Huskies got off to a strong start with a 3-0 sweep of the doubles matches.
Vishesh Patel (Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India/Asia English School) and
Sergio Dilan (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Cedin) took No. 1 Doubles 8-2 and
Albert Martin (Barcelona/Instituto Menendez y Pelayo) and
Arnav Sharma (Haryana,India/Suncity School) followed with a 8-2 win at No. 2 Doubles.
Iu Casamitjana (Igualada, Spain/Escola Pia Igualada) and
Jaime Soria (Pamplona, Spain/Liceo Monjardin) completed the sweep with an 8-3 win at No. 3 Doubles.

Fernando Barros (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Hoosac School) swept through No. 3 Singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win while Casamitjana gave up just three games at No. 5 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.

Soria picked up his second win of the day at No. 4 Singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory and Dilan captured his second victory with a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 2 Singles.
Landon Wall (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca High School) earned a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 6 Singles and
Denis Dementev (Saint-Petersburg, Russia/) won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 Singles to help complete the match sweep for the Huskies.
Bloomsburg returns to action on Saturday, February 17 when they host Daemen University for a. 4:00 P.M. match in Hershey, Pa.
