Baseball Drops Home Contest to IUP

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg baseball team fell to IUP in a non-conference matchup,14-4, at Danny Litwhiler Field on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Bloomsburg (2-9) and IUP (3-3) remained deadlocked through the first two innings. The Crimson Hawks opened the scoring in the top of the third with a solo home run to right field.
 
IUP extended the lead in the fifth, posting five runs on three hits. A three-run homer from Elijah Dunn in the sixth capped off another five-run inning for the Crimson Hawks.
 
The Huskies broke the shutout in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded as Brady Ebbert (Etters, Pa./Red Land) roped a two-RBI double to right centerfield to bring Judah Miller (Halifax, Pa./Halifax) and Jacob Reifer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia Area) across the plate.
 
A Wyatt Metzger (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) groundout allowed Eli Riley (Harrisburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) to complete his trip around the bases in the following at bat.
 
Josh Wilson (Clinton, Md./Bishop McNamara) brought a run home in the third straight at bat for Bloomsburg, lining a single up the middle to score Ebbert.
 
IUP posted three runs in the top of the eighth, which proved to be the final runs of the inning as Bloomsburg fell 14-4.
 
Ebbert went 2-for-5 in the contest with two RBIs and two doubles. Riley went 2-for-3 from the plate while drawing a pair of walks.
 
Wilson recorded his fifth multi-hit performance of the season, going 2-for-5 on the day. Miller went 2-for-4 in the contest with one double.
 
Brian Walsh (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) was tacked with the loss after allowing two earned runs on five hits in four innings pitched.
 
Overall, the Crimson Hawks outhit the Huskies 13-11.
 
The maroon and gold return to action on Thursday, March 14 for a PSAC doubleheader against Lock Haven.
