PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Bloomsburg women's tennis team picked up a strong regional win as the Huskies defeated Jefferson, 5-2, Friday afternoon.

"It was a really nice win for the women," remarked head coach
Rebecca Helt. "It was super windy conditions and they played very smart and patient."

Jen McDonald (Melbourne, Australia/Brentwood Secondary College) and
Alyssa Mazurek (McAdoo, PA/Hazleton Area) got the Huskies off on the right foot with a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
Lexi Quackenbush (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) and
Nicole Ilkovic (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy High School) closed out the doubles point for Bloomsburg with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles. The Rams avoided a complete sweep in the opening matches with a 6-2 win at No. 2.

The Huskies took a 2-0 lead with a win by forfeit at No. 6 singles and
Lia-Sophie Seele (Mülheim, NRW, Germany/Luisenschule) pushed the lead to 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles.

Dasha Nakonecha (Spain/IOC) clinched the match win for the Huskies with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.
Alese Rinker (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) pushed the Bloomsburg lead to 5-0 win a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles.
The Rams avoided the sweep for the match as Nicole Hrbkova won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and Charly Egger won 7-6 (10-8), 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

The Huskies return to the court and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East action on Saturday, April 6 when they visit West Chester University.
