Baseball Falls to No. 6 Millersville in Conference Doubleheader

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Bloomsburg baseball team dropped both legs of its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) doubleheader of the season, 10-1 and 3-2, to No. 6 Millersville on Friday afternoon.

Game 1

Millersville (12-3, 2-0 PSAC) showed why it's the No. 6-ranked team in the nation early on, bringing 10 runs across the plate in the first three innings of game one.

Bloomsburg (2-6, 0-2 broke up the shutout in the top of the sixth on an RBI-double to center field from Brady Ebbert (Etters, Pa./Red Land) that brought home Jacob Reifer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia Area). That proved to be the only run of the contest for the Huskies, who dropped game one 10-1.

Scott Gilbert (Scranton, Pa./Abington Heights) was tacked with the loss after pitching the first three innings of the contest, while Carson Kulina picked up his third win of the season.

Game 2

The Huskies got on the board early in game two, with Eli Riley (Harrisburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) scoring on an RBI-single up the middle from Josh Wilson (Clinton, Md./Bishop McNamara) in the top of the first.

The Marauders responded in the bottom of the frame with a two-run home run from Mark McNelly.

Riley brought Ryan Flury (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) across the plate in the top of the second with a game-tying, RBI-single to left field.

MU regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI-bunt single.

The maroon and gold were unable to find an answer as they ultimately fell, 3-2, in the second leg of the doubleheader.

Nate Baranski (Larksville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) went the distance on the mound for Bloomsburg, picking up the loss while allowing seven hits, three runs and striking out five.

The Huskies out-hit Millersville 8-7 in game two.

Riley went 2-for-4 in game two with a single and a double. Flury, Ebbert and Reifer each posted a hit in both games.
