#23 Lacrosse Rolls to a 15-8 Win Over Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -  #23 Bloomsburg women's lacrosse won its second straight game with a 15-8 victory of Shippensburg, Wednesday. The Huskies improved to 8-2 on the year and 4-2 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action while the Raiders fell to 2-9 and 0-6 in conference play.
 
Despite Shippensburg getting out to the early lead, the Huskies scored with just 2:52 to play in the first and pulled away. Madison Coyle (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) got the Huskies on the board first at 2:52 and Emily Simpson (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) scored with 39 seconds to play in the quarter for the 2-1 lead. Coyle scored back-to-back goals to open the second and Marykate Sitko (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) gave Bloomsburg a 5-1 lead in the second quarter.
 
The Raiders scored back-to-back tallies to cut the lead to 5-3 with 5:52 to play, but the Huskies rattled off five-straight goals, including three in the third to push their lead to 10-3. Shippensburg once again scored two-straight but the Huskies answered with two from Amanda Stoll (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) and Coyle to take a 12-5 advantage.
 
The two teams traded the next six goals with the Huskies coming out on top, 15-8. Stoll scored a pair of goals in the run while Delaney Fox (Barto, Pa./Boyertown) found the back of the net once.
 
Coyle led the Huskies with six goals while Stoll had three goals and an assist. Tori Bruno (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) finished the day with four assists for the Huskies. Coyle finished the day with seven draw controls.
 
Defensively, Stoll and Delaney Allen (/) each had two caused turnovers while Amanda Biehl (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) led the team with four ground balls. Bruno and Lauren Foley (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) finished the day with three.

Foley needed just nine saves in her eighth victory of the season.
 
The Huskies kick off the second half of their PSAC East schedule on Saturday as they head to Shepherdstown, W. Va. to take on Shepherd at 1:00 p.m.
