Box Score BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bloomsburg women's tennis team picked up a 4-3 victory over Edinboro at the Burt Reese Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.

"It was a great win," stated head coach Rebecca Helt following the contest. "We had strong play today from our depth and our doubles.

The Huskies fall to 11-6 on the season and possess a 3-1 record in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). The Fighting Scots fall to 5-11 overall with a 0-2 mark in conference action.

How It Happened:
Bloomsburg got off to a strong start on the afternoon, taking two of three in doubles play to secure a 1-0 match advantage.

After Edinboro won No. 2 doubles, the Huskies valiantly fought to take the point. The duo of Jen McDonald (Melbourne, Australia/Brentwood Secondary College) and Alyssa Mazurek (McAdoo, PA/Hazleton Area) defeated Marina Zottele and Maria Clara Salomao, 6-2 to tie up action in doubles with a win on Court 3.

No. 1 doubles was back and forth between the two sides, with the match matchup coming down to a tiebreaker. Lexi Quackenbush (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) and Nicole Ilkovic (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy High School) came out on top in what proved to be a pivotal doubles point, 7-6 (7-5), to give Bloomsburg an early 1-0 edge.

The Fighting Scots held to their name, taking a 2-1 lead in the match following victories in No. 1 and No. 3 singles play. The Huskies responded to the rally from Edinboro by earning three consecutive victories in No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles to clinch the win.

McDonald was the first to bring home a victory, winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0, to tie the match at 2-2. Mazurek followed similarly with a straight-set victory of her own, 6-4, 6-1, against Zottele in No. 6 singles action. Lia-Sophie Seele (Mülheim, NRW, Germany/Luisenschule) secured the victory for Bloomsburg on Court No. 4, battling against Rafaella Negrao De Almeida and coming away with a 6-3, 7-5 decision.

On the Horizon:
The Huskies are back at the Burt Reese Tennis Center on Sunday, April 21, at 10:00 a.m. to take on Mercyhurst in another PSAC clash.
