Baseball Downed in Wednesday Night Contest by Chestnut Hill

NORTH WALES, Pa. – The Bloomsburg baseball team fell on the road to Chestnut Hill College in a non-conference matchup with the Griffins on Wednesday night.

A two-run home run in the bottom of the first gave Chestnut Hill (13-26) the early 2-0 advantage over Bloomsburg (12-28).

The Huskies held the Griffins to just one hit over the second and third innings before an RBI-groundout from John Crane in the fourth brought in the third run of the game for CHC.

Michael Pascoe picked up his third RBI of the day in the fifth on a fielder's choice. Pascoe then made his way home on an RBI-single to left field from Justin Geiger.

A bases-loaded hit by pitch in the sixth extended the Griffins' lead to 6-0. Aiden Myers then notched a two-RBI double before Geiger made it 9-0 on a single to left center.

A two-run shot from Calvin McCall in the seventh put Chestnut Hill into double digits.

Bloomsburg broke the shut out in the ninth on a sacrifice-fly from Judah Miller (Halifax, Pa./Halifax), scoring Josh Wilson (Clinton, Md./Bishop McNamara).

Pinch-hitting in the ninth, Christian LaBarbera (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) launched a three-run shot over the right-center field wall for his first collegiate hit.

Landon Lorson (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport) got the start for the Huskies, striking out five while allowing three hits and two earned runs in four innings pitched.

Bloomsburg returns to action on Friday, April 26 for Senior Day at 3 p.m against Queens College. Senior Day ceremonies begin at 2:35 p.m.
