BLOOMSBURG, PA – The Bloomsburg baseball team split its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) doubleheader with Shepherd at Danny Litwhiler Field on Sunday afternoon.

Wyatt Metzger (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) went 4-for-7 on the day to lead the Huskies while the maroon and gold tallied 15 total hits.

Game 1 – Shepherd 4, Bloomsburg 1
Â
Bloomsburg (10-17, 7-11 PSAC East) fell behind in the third as Wyatt Miles hit a solo home run over the right-field wall to put Shepherd (11-15, 6-8) ahead 1-0.

The Huskies tied the game in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI-double down the right-field line to score
Jeremy Cawley (Duryea, Pa./Pittston Area) from first.

The game remained deadlocked until seventh inning when Corey Jamison notched a three-run homer to right field to give the Rams a 4-1 lead.

Nate Baranski (Larksville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) was charged with the loss after striking out nine batters and allowing three runs.
Â
Daniel Quintana went six innings to earn the win, striking out seven and allowing just one run. Eli Lam picked up the save.

Game 2 – Bloomsburg 5, Shepherd 1
Â
After Cawley reached first on a dropped third strike in the first, Metzger once again doubled down the left-field line to bring Cawley home.
Â
An RBI-groundout from SU in the fourth tied the contest.
Â
The Huskies rallied four consecutive runs in the fifth, with
Josh Wilson (Clinton, Md./Bishop McNamara) bringing Metzger home to take a 2-1 lead.
Jonathan LaBarbera (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) then extended the Bloomsburg lead with a right field-single to score
Brady Ebbert (Etters, Pa./Red Land).

Metzger scored again in the sixth when he crushed a two-run home run into the trees over the left field fence. Â His home run moves him into a tie for eighth on the Huskies all-time home run leaderboard with 21.

Will Dean (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) picked up his third win of the season, allowing one run and striking out three in a complete game.

Metzger went 3-for-4 in game two, falling a triple short of completing the cycle.

LaBarbera went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

The Huskies travel to Shepherdstown, West Virginia on Monday, April 8 to complete the season series with the Rams.
