CLARION, Pa. – The Bloomsburg baseball team took game one of its non-conference doubleheader with Clarion, 10-6, before falling 2-1 in game two on Tuesday afternoon.

The Huskies tallied 16 hits on the day with three players recording at least three hits.

Game 1 – Bloomsburg 10, Clarion 6

Bloomsburg (12-19) gained momentum in the top of the second as
Judah Miller (Halifax, Pa./Halifax) singled to left field before
Shawn Karpaitis (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg Area) doubled to the same location for his first collegiate hit.

Jacob Reifer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia Area) drove in the first run of the game on a single to center field.
Jeremy Cawley (Duryea, Pa./Pittston Area) brought in the Huskies' second run on an RBI-groundout to first base to score Karpaitis.

Clarion (6-24) walked two batters in the third setting up Wilson to score on a passed ball to extend the lead for the maroon and gold.

Later in the inning, Karpaitis tallied his second double of the day to score two runners and give Bloomsburg the 5-0 lead. Cawley brought in run number six for the Huskies after getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Karpaitis recorded his third straight hit of the game in the top of the fourth on an RBI-single to left field to score
Joe Levis (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin).
Eli Riley (Harrisburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) scored on an error to give Bloomsburg an 8-0 advantage.

An RBI-single from
Wyatt Metzger (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) brought home Miller home in the sixth. A late surge of runs from the Golden Eagles in the final two frames was not enough as the Huskies take the three-hour-long game one 10-6.

Xander Velez (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) picked up his first career win after allowing no runs and striking out three in three innings pitched.
Andrew Armstrong (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman),
Owen Wilhide (York, Pa/Northeastern) and
Dylan Lubinski (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) each made appearances on the mound and combined for six strikeouts.

Game 2 – Clarion 2, Bloomsburg 1

Ryan Flury (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) opened the game two scoring in the second with left field single to bring Wilhide across home plate.
Â
A sacrifice-fly from Clarion in the fourth tied the game before walking off game two with another sacrifice-fly from Alfredo Hurtado.
Â
Cole Coolbaugh (Wyoming, Pa./Wyoming Area) got the start in game two, striking out five and not allowing a run in 2.2 innings.
Zach Steen (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) was tacked with the loss after allowing one earned run and striking out four in 3.1 innings pitched.

Reifer went 3-for-4 in game two while going 4-for-8 on the day. Miller and Karpaitis each notched three hits on the day with Karpaitis tallying 3 RBIs. Miller crossed the plate three times in game one.

The Huskies return to action on Friday, April 12 as they travel to West Chester for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
