Men's Basketball Bested by East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's basketball team fell on the road to East Stroudsburg, 79-56, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup inside the Koehler Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.
 
Matt Bengel (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) posted a team-high 13 points and five rebounds in the contest, going 5-for-9 from the floor. Kent Olewiler (York, Pa./William Penn) finished the contest with nine points of 3-of-6 shooting. Mondyu Richards (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) and Isiah Sherman (Philadelphia, Pa./Lincoln) each hauled in five rebounds, while Louie Wild (Philadelphia, PA/Roman Catholic) recorded four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
 
Bloomsburg (3-14, 2-8 PSAC) went 20-for-50 (40 percent) from the floor and 6-for-16 (37.5 percent) while East Stroudsburg (13-4, 7-3) shot 29-for-59 (49.2 percent) from the floor in the game.
 
Back-to-back three-pointers from East Stroudsburg's Evan Morton gave the Warriors an early 6-0 lead before Jagger Dressler (Danville, Pa./Danville) got the Huskies on the board with a triple of his own. ESU took control once more with a 15-5 the spanned five minutes of game time. Bloomsburg slowly cut away at the lead before the home team extended its lead to as large as 16 in the first half. A late surge from the maroon and gold brought the score to 42-30 entering half time.
 
The Huskies came out the locker room energized, going on an 8-0 run with three-pointers from Bengel and Sherman to bring Bloomsburg within four points of the lead. East Stroudsburg slowly extended its lead throughout the second half, going on to win the game, 79-56.
 
The Huskies are back in action on Wednesday, January 22 for a 5:30 p.m. matchup against Shepherd inside the Nelson Field House.
