Men's Basketball Bested on the Road by Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's basketball team dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup to Shippensburg, 86-58, inside the Heiges Field House on Monday night.
 
Shippensburg (5-8, 3-4 PSAC) posted its best shooting performance of the season (33-for-56) while holding Bloomsburg (2-12, 1-6) to 21-for-61 shooting.
 
Xion Nichols (Woodland, Ca./State College Area) lead the scoring for the Huskies, posting 12 points while notching three assists and two blocks. Mondyu Richards (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) went 4-for-6 from the floor to finish with ten points, five rebounds and one block.
 
Isiah Sherman (Philadelphia, Pa./Lincoln) put the maroon and gold on the board first in the contest, sinking a mid-range jumper in the paint. The Raiders' Donovan Hill answered with a layup to level the score before the home team took hold of the momentum to take a 10-4 advantage into the first media timeout. Shippensburg continued to surge ahead, going on a 16-1 run the lasted nearly eight minutes before Jagger Dressler (Danville, Pa./Danville) nailed a three pointer to end the run. From there, the Huskies started to see shots fall, going into halftime trailing 44-24.
 
The second half saw the Raiders keep the momentum, extending its lead to as much as 42 points with seven minutes remaining. Bloomsburg saw Naeem Purnell-Northern (Darby, Pa./Penn Wood), Richards and Nichols combine for 16 points down the stretch to cut down on the Shippensburg lead. The Huskies ultimately fell to the Raiders, 86-58.
 
It's a quick turnaround for the Huskies as they are back inside Nelson Field House on Wednesday, January 8 to take on Millersville at 5:30 p.m.
