BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg women's volleyball team saw its comeback bid fall short in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup on Saturday night, falling 3-2 to East Stroudsburg.

Marlee Johnson (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) and
Emily Gustie (Crofton, Md./Crofton) lead the Huskies in kills with 14 apiece while
Erin Clark (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert) and
Jessica Rimbo (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) combined for 45 assists.

Bloomsburg (7-13, 0-8 PSAC East) got on the board first, taking a 2-0 lead on kills from
Katie Kuehl (Aston, Pa./Archmere Academy (Del.)) and Johnson. A pair of aces and a kill from Romina Martinez gave East Stroudsburg (15-5, 5-2) the lead. A 5-1 run allowed the Huskies to regain the lead at 7-4, highlighted by back-to-back kills from Gustie. The two sides went back-and forth throughout the entirety of the first set with a late 5-1 run giving Bloomsburg the 25-21 victory in the first frame.

ESU jumped ahead to an early 3-1 lead in the second set though the maroon and gold slowly brought the score back to. 7-6 lead for the home team. East Stroudsburg regained the momentum with a pair of six-point runs to take a 19-8 lead before a 6-2 run closed out the set 25-10.

The Warriors stayed on the offensive in the third set as an eight-point run surged the visitors ahead 11-4. The Huskies were unable to find a response in the set, with a six-point swing giving ESU another 25-10 victory.

East Stroudsburg kept control of the momentum in the fourth, jumping ahead to an early 8-2 advantage. Bloomsburg attempted to chip away at the gap throughout the set before a four-point run pulled Bloomsburg within two at 20-18. The run saw a kill and an ace from Sophie Wale, as well as kills from Rimbo and Johnson. The Huskies moved to a 24-22 lead on a five-point run before ESU responded to make it 25-24. Wales and Gustie made it 26-25 before the Warriors tied it at 26. Kuehl then recorded a kill before an attack error from Anna Coulter allowed Bloomsburg to force a fifth set.

The maroon and gold fell behind 4-1 at the start of the fifth but the resilient Huskies battled back to take a 7-6 lead. After a back-and-forth made it 10-8 Bloomsburg, the Warriors used a 7-2 run to cut the comeback bid short.

Bloomsburg is back in action n Saturday, October 25 as they host Wilmington inside the Nelson Field House at 1 p.m.
