INDIANA, Pa. – The No. 5-ranked Bloomsburg field hockey team fell to IUP in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at George P. Miller Stadium on Saturday night.
Â
Bloomsburg falls to 12-5 with a 4-4 record in conference play, while the Crimson Hawks move to 8-6 and a 4-4 in the PSAC.
Â
It took half of the first quarter for either side to garner a shot attempt, with IUP's Grace McGeehan testing
Maura Greek (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) at the 7:41-minute mark. A pair of penalty corners for the home side saw the Huskies notch shot blocks on each attempt, keeping the game deadlocked. Bloomsburg recorded its first shot attempt late in the frame with
Jordan Bond (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) sending a shot wide.
Â
IUP got on the board four minutes into the second quarter as Jess Davidson fired a reverse shot on net. Her shot deflected off Lauren Horning in front of the net and made its way past Greek to open the scoring.
Genna Bush (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) looked to level the score just before half time with a quick shot through traffic in front of the net, but IUP's Celeste Pagliaroli turned it aside to hold a 1-0 lead going into the break.
Â
The third quarter saw the Crimson Hawks stopped twice by Greek before eventually finding their way past the netminder on a shot from Grace McGeehan.
Â
Bloomsburg notched just one more shot on goal in the game from
Kate Ferguson (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) as the Huskies fell 2-0.
Â
Greek tallied seven saves in the contest as IUP outshot the maroon and gold, 15-5.
Â
The Huskies are back in on Saturday, November 1 as they host Millersville for Senior Day at 1 p.m.
