KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After starting action in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) 1-0-1, the Bloomsburg men's soccer team jumps to No. 19 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II National Poll. Additionally, the Huskies make the jump to No. 2 in the Atlantic region. The Bloomsburg men's soccer team stands at 4-0-3 this season.
Bloomsburg began the week on the road with a 0-0 draw against East Stroudsburg. The Huskies and Warriors went back and forth the entire night, with neither side able to come away with a decisive game-winner.
On Saturday, Bloomsburg pieced together a strong showing at Steph Pettit Stadium against West Chester with a 2-0 victory. Jake Pacacha (Shelton, Conn./St. Joseph) scored the first of the game on his own after taking advantage of a passing mistake from the Golden Rams defense. Later in the match, the Huskies managed to recycle play from an initial free kick. Kody Besser (Lacey Township, N.J./Lacey Township) had space at the top of the box and after beating one defender, the senior released the ball to an unmarked Caleb Sitler (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) who slotted away the shot for the team's second.
Making his return to the starting lineup, Besser earned his sixth-career weekly honor from the PSAC and his fifth Defensive Athlete of the Week Award after his involvement on both ends of the field.
The Huskies kick off a new week of conference play on the road with a 4:30 p.m. match on the road against Shippensburg on October 8.
