Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Gannon Horning, Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant

Women's Basketball Bested by Jefferson

The Bloomsburg women's basketball team was bested by the Jefferson Rams 55-33.

The Huskies struggled shooting tonight, shooting 24.2% (15-for-62) without landing a single three-point shot (0-for-21).

Kash Santos (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic), off of the bench, led Bloomsburg in points with eight. Maddison Maynard (Lansford, Pa./Panther Valley) led the starters in points and rebounds with seven. Alison Hatajik (Duncansville, Pa./Hollidaysburg) followed behind with six points, Maddie LaFrance (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) scored four points and Kelly Leszcynski (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) ended with two.

Lex Ferguson (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) had four points off of the bench along with a bucket from Piper McGinley (Glenside, Pa./Abington).

First Half:

In the first quarter, LaFrance scored the first points in the game with a layup. The Rams started to pull away after Bloomsburg missed seven threes in the quarter, but the lead would be Huskies down 17-10 at the end of the first.

The second quarter would not be any better for the Huskies. After a layup from Hatajik, a turnaround jumper from Maynard and a layup from Santos, Bloomsburg scored only six points in the entire quarter.

Second Half:

Bloomsburg outscored the Rams in the third 11-10 with scoring from LaFrance, Santos, Maynard and Hatajik.

With a better performance to start the second half, Bloomsburg still needed to navigate a way to come back down 15 to start the fourth. The lead proved to be too much as the Huskies shooting troubles continued. Only making two field goals, Bloomsburg would be defeated and increase their losing streak to three.

On the Horizon:

The Huskies will travel to play The Rock in their first game of the new year. They will play on Jan. 2 at 3 p.m.
