BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg men's basketball team took down Kutztown, 81-72, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup inside the Nelson Field House on Sunday afternoon.

Matt Bengel (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) and
Danny Bruce (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) each finished with over 20 points in the contest while combining for six three-pointers and 12 rebounds.

Bruce paced the Huskies with 22 points on 7-for-10 shooting while going a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. Bengel notched 21 points in the contest, including 17 in the first half. The senior guard also tallied seven rebounds, four blocks and three assists.

Isiah Sherman (Philadelphia, Pa./Lincoln) finished in double digits with 11 points while going 3-for-3 from the floor.
Louie Wild (Philadelphia, PA/Roman Catholic) matched his season-high in assists with seven.

The maroon and gold went 28-for-53 (52.8 percent) from the floor while shooting a season-high 12-for-19 (63.2 percent) from three-point territory. The Huskies went 8-for-11 on threes in the first half.

Bengel got Bloomsburg (6-19, 5-13 PSAC) on the board first with a tip-in off a jumper from Wild. Kutztown (7-17, 3-14) leveled the score on a layup from Jalen Bryant before a dunk from
Tony Henderson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) put the Huskies back on top. The two teams traded points to a 6-6 tie before a three-pointer from Bengel put the maroon and gold ahead 9-6. The Golden Bears managed to even the score yet again to 11-11.

After the score moved to 14-13 in favor of the Huskies, Henderson drained a three to begin a 12-0 run that spanned two minutes of game time. Bloomsburg kept KU just out of reach for much of the first half before a late surge pushed the lead to as high as 19 points. The maroon and gold took a 45-28 lead into the locker room at half time.

The second half saw the Huskies hold off Kutztown in the early moments of the frame before a 15-3 run from the visitors brought the lead down to just eight points. A triple from Bruce put an end to the Golden Bears' run before pushing back up to a 16-point lead with just over two minutes to go. Bloomsburg withstood a late-scoring burst from Kutztown to hold on for an 81-72 victory.

Bloomsburg returns to action on Wednesday, February 19 as they travel to Millersville for a 7:30 p.m. contest with the Marauders.
