Â
West Chester (21-5, 17-3) opened the scoring early with a layup from Joshua Walker before Bengel responded with a three pointer to give the Huskies the lead. After a free throw from Walker tied the game at 3-3, Bengel drove into the paint for two and regained the lead for Bloomsburg. The two sides continued to trade point before a dunk from Henderson forced the Golden Rams to take a timeout.
Â
The timeout gave West Chester a boost, as the visitors went on a 24-2 run over the next ten minutes of game time. The run was broken by Sabatini on a tip-in layup by the freshman. Sabatini gave the Huskies momentum to cut down on the lead, highlighted by a layup that saw the 6 foot 6 guard jump over Anthony McCall for an and-one. West Chester saw its advantage shrink as they headed into the locker room up, 45-31, at halftime.
Â
The Golden Rams advanced their lead coming out of the break, moving ahead to an 18-point advantage four minutes into the frame. This sparked a 9-1 swing for the maroon and gold, with Bengel recording seven of the Huskies' nine points to move the score to 54-44.
Â
A jumper from West Chester's Elijah Allen put an end to the run but Bloomsburg went right back on the offensive, as a 10-5 run put the home side within five points at 59-54. The Huskies kept the PSAC Eastern Division's top-ranked team within single digits for much of the second half, however the huskies were unable to complete the comeback as West Chester took the contest, 86-74.
Â
The Huskies return to action on Wednesday, February 26 as the travel to Lock Haven for the final game of the season at 7:30 p.m.
