BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Huskies held off a comeback attempt by Jefferson as the Bloomsburg lacrosse team improved to 2-0 on the year with a 15-13 win, Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore
Marykate Sitko (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) paced the Huskies with a career-high five goals, including the game-sealing 15
th goal with 3:48 to play in the fourth. The Huskies got at least one goal and one point from seven different players. Sitko added a pair of assists while senior
Tori Bruno (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) had a two goals and two assists. Sophomore
Kayla Stressman (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn), senior
Maya Fulmer (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley), and sophomore
Emily Simpson (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) each had two goals as well while Brianna Auston and
Mia Boccippio (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) each had a score for the Huskies.
Defensively,
Mikayla Viola (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) led the Huskies with three caused turnovers and two ground balls while
Emily Gauker (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) and
Reiley Knize (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) had three ground balls each.

Lauren Foley (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) got the win in cage with nine saves in 51:56 and
Emily Graham (Wantagh, N.Y./St. Anthony's) finished out the game in net. Kalyn Ammerlaan took the loss for Jefferson with seven saves.
Sitko and Bruno scored back-to-back goals to get the Huskies off to a 2-0 lead before the Rams got one back with 10:51 to play in the first. Simpson and Austin sandwiched their goals around one from the Rams before Lilly Lutz cut the Huskies' lead to 4-3 with 36 seconds to play in the opening quarter.
Stressman and Sitko went back-to-back  to push the Bloomsburg lead to 6-3 to start the second quarter. Reagan Rogers cut the lead down to 6-4 before the Huskies rattled off four goals from four different players to end the second and start the third to push the Bloomsburg lead to six, 10-4, with 13:16 left in the third quarter.

Jefferson mounted its comeback attempt with three-straight goals to cut the lead back to three, 10-7, with 10:34 to go. Simpson's second goal of the game ended the Rams' run but Jefferson scored two-straight to get within two, 11-9, at the 3:18 mark. Sitko and Fulmer answered with two goals to push the lead back to 13-9 but Jefferson scored as time expired in the third to get back to within three, 13-10, going into the final quarter.

Meaghan Avanzato went back-to-back for the Rams to start the fourth and cut the Huskies' lead to one, 13-12, at the 12:59 mark. Bruno pushed the lead back to two, 14-12, with 10:03 to play. Rogers got the Rams back to within one, 14-13, but Sitko's woman-down goal at 3:48 sealed the win.

The Rams had the ball with less than three minutes to play in the fourth but Iris Gluck's shot went just wide and Bloomsburg was behind the net to back it up. After a clear attempt from Bloomsburg failed with 2:11 to play, the Huskies' defense stepped up and blocked a shot from Chloe Naylor to keep it a two-goal game. The Bloomsburg defense kept the pressure on in the final minute, forcing a turnover with 25 seconds to play to hand the Huskies' their second win of the year.

The Huskies return to action on Saturday when they host Georgian Court at Steph Pettit Stadium for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference contest.
