SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – With 2:26 to play in the fourth quarter, sophomore
AnnMarie Davenport (Elkton, Md./Elkton) took advantage of a Raiders turnover for her first career goal to lift the Bloomsburg lacrosse team to a 15-14 win over Shippensburg, Wednesday afternoon. The Huskies improved to 5-3 on the year and 1-2 in the PSAC East while the Raiders dropped to 5-3 and 0-3 in conference play.

With 2:38 to play in regulation,
Marykate Sitko (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) put a shot on cage for the potential game-winner but was turned away by Kayla Vosburg. As the Raiders attempted to clear the ball, Davenport intercepted a long pass and immediately went on the offense as she ripped a shot that got past Vosburg for the 15-14 Bloomsburg lead at the 2:26 mark.

Sitko won the ensuing draw control for the Huskies but Shippensburg caused a turnover and successfully completed the clear. The offensive attack was short lived as the Raiders turned the ball over with 58 seconds to play.
Emily Simpson (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) picked up the ground ball and head coach
Shannon Hertz immediately called a timeout. Bloomsburg maintained possession for the final minute of action before turning the ball over as time was expiring for the 15-14 win.

Mia Boccippio (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) led the Bloomsburg offense with three goals and an assist while Sitko and
Brianna Austin (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) each had three goals as well.
Maya Fulmer (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) finished the day with a pair of goals while Davenport,
Delaney Fox (Barto, Pa./Boyertown),
Kayla Stressman (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) and
Alexis Guzylak (Corning, N.Y./Horseheads) each scored for the Huskies.
Tori Bruno (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) finished the day with a team-leading four assists.

Boccippio got the Huskies on the board first with her eighth goal of the season just 2:22 into action in the first. Shippensburg answered right away at the 12:13 mark to tie the game at 1-1. The tie did not last long, however, as Boccippio gave the Huskies a 2-1 lead 13 seconds later and kicked off a run of three-straight, with tallies coming from Fox and Stressman for the 4-1 Bloomsburg lead with 6:53 to play.
The Raiders answered with three-straight of their own to tie the game at 4-4 with 1:16 to go in the first before Austin gave the Huskies a 5-4 lead with 51 seconds to play in the opening period.

The Raiders took their largest lead of the game to start the second quarter with three-straight goals in the first four minutes to take a 7-5 lead. Sitko and. Fulmer scored back-to-back goals to re-tie the game at 7-7 before Ali Pioli gave Shippensburg an 8-7 lead with 6:53 to play before halftime. Austin found the back of the net for the second time with 38 seconds to play before the break to tie the game at 8-8.

The Raiders took a 9-8 lead to open the third as Maddie Phommachanh scored for the 17
th time this season, but the Huskies answered with goals from Sitko, Fulmer, and Austin to take an 11-9 lead with 4:34 to play in the third period. Shippensburg rattled off three of its own to close out the quarter to take a 12-11 lead into the final period of regulation.

Sitko and Jamie Carvin traded goals to open the fourth before Guzylak and Boccippio went back-to-back to give Bloomsburg a 14-13 lead with 5:00 to play in the quarter. Phommachanh tied the game just two minutes later before Davenport's game-winner came at the 2:26 mark for Bloomsburg.

Defensively,
Reiley Knize (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) led the Huskies with three caused turnovers and three ground balls while
Mikayla Viola (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) finished the day with a pair of CTs. Simpson led the Huskies with four ground balls and added a caused turnover and draw control win.
Lauren Foley (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) played the full 60 minutes in net and finished the day with nine saves.

Sitko led the team with a career-best 12 draw control wins while Guzylak finished the day with four draw controls.

As a team, the Huskies won the ground ball battle 27-24 and held a 19-14 advantage in draw controls. The Huskies caused 13 of the Raiders' 30 turnovers.

Bloomsburg returns to action on Saturday when the Huskies host Shepherd at Steph Pettit Stadium for a 1:00 p.m. PSAC East contest on March 23 in Bloomsburg, Pa.
