Baseball Drops Lengthy Doubleheader to East Stroudsburg

Game two of the doubleheader was called after six innings due to darkness

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Bloomsburg baseball team dropped a pair of lengthy, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contests, 17-10 and 14-8, to East Stroudsburg at Danny Litwhiler Field on Saturday afternoon.
 
Bloomsburg (9-16, 1-7 PSAC East) notched 23 on the day, highlighted by four hits from Judah Miller (Halifax, Pa./Halifax). The second baseman went 3-for-3 in game one, tallying five RBIs on two home runs. Mike Miller (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh), Josh Wilson (Clinton, Md./Bishop McNamara), Jacob Reifer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia Area) and Corey Daniels (Forest City, Pa./Forest City) each posted three hits in the twin bill.
 
Game One – East Stroudsburg 17, Bloomsburg 10
 
East Stroudsburg (20-6, 6-2) took an early 3-0 lead with a three-run home run in the top of the first inning on a shot to right center from Jack Rothenhausler.
 
J. Miller responded with a solo home run in the bottom of the second to put Bloomsburg on the board.
 
Rothenhausler launched his second home run of the game in the third to move the score to 4-1. An RBI-single posted another run before another three-run homer put the Warriors ahead 8-1 after three innings.
 
A third, three-run shot and an RBI-groundout, double play in the fourth from ESU put the visitors ahead 12-1.
 
The Huskies responded in the bottom of the fifth with on an RBI-double from Reifer before M. Miller brought in three runs with a home run to left centerfield.
 
ESU posted five runs in the top of the seventh to extend the lead before Bloomsburg responded with a grand slam and a solo home run in the bottom of the frame to make it 17-10.
 
Brock Hammaker (Lancaster, Pa./Donegal) was tacked with the loss allowing three runs and two hits in 1.2 innings pitched. Overall, the Huskies bullpen combined for five strikeouts.
 
Game Two – East Stroudsburg 14, Bloomsburg 8
 
East Stroudsburg's Dennis Pierce led off game two with a home run to take an early 1-0 advantage before an RBI-fielder's choice made it 2-0.
 
M. Miller notched a two-RBI double down the left field line in the bottom of the first to tie the game for the maroon and gold before a sacrifice fly from Reifer allowed M. Miller to score.
 
The Warriors jumped to an 10-3 lead over the next two innings on the back off three, two-run home runs and a pair of bases-loaded walks.
 
Reifer responded for the Huskies in the third with a two-run home run of his own before an RBI-single from Daniels moved Bloomsburg within four runs of the lead.
 
The fifth inning saw ESU extended its lead to 14-6 before a pair of RBI-singles from the maroon and gold made it 14-8.
 
A lack of sunlight at The Dan forced the game to be called complete after six innings of action and two hours and 45 minutes of game play.
 
Bloomsburg returns to Danny Liwhiler Field on Tuesday, April 1 as they host St. Thomas Aquinas for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
