HOCKESSIN, Del. – The Bloomsburg baseball team fell short against Goldey-Beacom, 7-6, in its midweek matchup at Doyle Field on Tuesday afternoon. The Huskies fall to 4-6 on the year while the Lightning moved to 6-5.

Greg Cristino (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) went 3-for-5 on the day with and RBI, a run and a double.
Ben Jones (Fallschurch, Va./George C. Marshall) notched a pair of hits of his own while scoring once.
Josh Wilson (Clinton, Md./Bishop McNamara) tallied a double, a run and an RBI while drawing three walks.

Jeremy Cawley (Duryea, Pa./Pittston Area) led off the game by reaching first on a throwing error from the third baseman before advancing to second. A wild pitch then moved home to third before being brought home by Cristino on a single through the right side.

A bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the first inning knotted the game at 1-1.

The top of the second inning started much like the first, with
Corey Daniels (Forest City, Pa./Forest City) reaching on an error as the lead-off batter. Daniels stole second before advancing to third on a failed pickoff attempt. Wilson drew a walk before
Jacob Reifer (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia Area) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Daniels scored on a third-strike wild pitch to regain the lead for the Huskies.

Goldey-Beacom tacked on three runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 4-2 lead. The lightning added another in the third inning to go ahead 5-2.

Wilson and Refier led of the fourth inning with back-to-back doubles, placing both runners in scoring positions. Cawley scored Wilson on a groundout to the shortstop to cut down on the lead.

An RBI-groundout in the bottom of the inning put GBC back up by three runs.

Cristino and Jones tallied back-to-back single to start the fifth inning before
Drew Balestrini (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) loaded the bases on a walk. Wilson then drew his second walk of the day to bring Cristino in from third. A sacrifice fly from Reifer put Bloomsburg within one before
Joe Levis (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) tied the game on an RBI-single back to the pitcher.

Goldey-Beacom regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth frame on a single to right field.

The Huskies failed to bring a runner home with the bases loaded in the eighth as the Lightning held on to take the 7-6 victory.

Brock Hammaker (Lancaster, Pa./Donegal) got the start for the Huskies and allowed two hits and four runs in 1.2 inning pitched.
Scott Gilbert (Scranton, Pa./Abington Heights) was credited with the loss, allowing two hits and the go=ahead run in 2.1 innings pitched.

Bloomsburg returns to the field on Tuesday, March 11 for its home opener against Lock Haven at Danny Litwhiler Field at 3 p.m.
